Abstract

Helical tomotherapy (HT) is a novel image guided, intensity-modulated radiotherapy (RT) modality with a helical 360° radiation delivery system and CT imaging ability. Compared to conventional RT, HT provides better dose conformality and homogeneity to gross tumor volumes (GTV) and lower dose to surrounding critical structures. With CT imaging before each treatment fraction, setup error of RT is reduced. The purpose of this report is to review our initial experience and to assess the toxicity and efficacy of HT for esophageal cancer.
