Abstract

Semiconductor radiation detectors are fabricated on single crystal wafers of indium iodide and tested both as direct radiation detectors and as optical detectors coupled to a scintillator crystal. The initial performance of the devices is encouraging but some chemical instability of the crystals is observed. Improvements in the detector performance may be possible by enhancing the InI crystal purity and by selecting optimal device configurations.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
