Abstract

The work hardening behavior of a fine grained AA5754 alloy has been examined from the perspective of the role of the large Lüders elongation observed in very fine grained alloys. It is shown that the apparently low work hardening and reduced tensile elongation can be understood in terms of the inhomogeneous yielding exhibited by fine grained alloys.
