Abstract

A novel inhibitory kinetic-fluorimetric method is reported for the determination of trace aniline. The method is based on the inhibitory effect of aniline on the oxidation of rhodamine B by potassium iodate in hydrochloric acid. The detection limit for aniline is 0.872 ng/mL; the linear range of determination is 4.10∼41.0 ng/mL. Every parameter has been optimized. Some ions which seriously interfere with the determination can be removed by means of pre-distillation in basic condition. The proposed method is simple, rapid and reliable. It has been applied to the determination of trace aniline in waste and tap waters.
