Abstract
A tyrosinase inhibitor was found in an aqueous extracts of cow snout epidermis, and the possible mode of action to mushroom tyrosinase was investigated. The inhibitor was non-dialyzable, heat-stable and sulfhydryl-containining compound. The sulfhydryl group of inhibitor was essential in the inhibitory activity. The inhibitor combinded with the lowest mobility isozyme of tyrosinase on DISC electrophresis. The growth curve of. melanoma B-16 cell was not affected by the culture with inhibitor. The biological role of inhibitor on the skin pigmentation could not be revealed in the present study.
