Abstract

The injection of ovine prolactin intramuscularly in conscious human subjects (Horrobin, Lloyd, Lipton, Burstyn, Durkin, and Muiruri, 1971) or intraperitoneally in conscious rats (Lockett and Nail, 1965) has been shown to produce an antidiuresis and antinatri-uresis which persists for several hours. The duration of the renal response both in the human subjects and in the rats was due partially to the route of prolactin administration.
