Abstract

Abstract The effect of noxytiolin on the viability of human tumour cells (HeLa) in monolayer culture was determined by vital staining, impairment of plating efficiency, and measurement of concentrations causing inhibition of growth. Concentrations of more than 0·0025 per cent cause significant inhibition of growth. This is much lower than its bacteriostatic concentration, suggesting that its bacteriostatic effect is non-specific.
