Abstract
Summary: A double‐blind trial comparing the efficacy of pyridoxine, stilboestrol and a placebo showed stilboestrol to be clearly superior in the inhibition of puerperal lactation, pyridoxine being only marginally more effective than a placebo. By advising patients to restrict their fluid intake and support the breasts, it was possible to employ a relatively low total dose of stilboestrol of 75 mg over 5 days.
