Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) is a critical mediator of pancreatic growth and proliferation. We have shown that the p85alpha regulatory subunit mediates pancreatic acinar cell growth and regeneration after partial pancreatectomy; however, the role of PI3K in regulating pancreatic enzyme secretion and activation is unknown. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of PI3K inhibition on CCK-stimulated enzyme secretion and zymogen activation.
