Abstract

In the course of our screening of NF-KB inhibitors from microbial secondary metabolites, we isolated a piperidine compound, 9-methylstreptimidone, from the culture filtrate of Streptomyces. 9-Methylstreptimidone inhibited LPS-induced NO production and NF-KB-induced transcriptional activity. It showed selective toxicity on adult T-cell leukemia cells in which NF-KB is constitutively activated. Unlike cycloheximide it did not inhibit protein synthesis.
