Abstract

Literature reports on inhibition of flower formation in LDP’s by noninductive photo-periodic conditions are less numerous than analogous reports for SDP’s which have been reviewed by Dr. Jacobs (see preceding article in this volume), but the evidence is derived from the same three types of experiments: subjecting plants to alternations of inductive and noninductive photoperiodic conditions; subjecting different parts of a plant — usually different leaves, but in some cases different parts of the same leaf — simultaneously to inductive and noninductive conditions; and defoliation experiments.
