Abstract

At present time, chemical control is the main method of protection of sunn pests. The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of seed proteinous extracts from different varieties of wheat ( Triticum aestivum var Bezostaya, Gaspard and Darab) on the α-amylase activity of Sunn Pest. To achieve this goal, adult insects were dissected and each insect's gut was removed and their amylase enzyme was extracted. Proteins of wheat were extracted using 0.1 M NaCl. The effect of proteinaceous extracts on α-amylase activity both as an enzymatic assay and as a gel assay using zymogram was performed. Inhibition percentages were recorded for the Bezostaya and Gaspard and Darab wheat varieties which were (73%), (%63) and (33%), respectively.
