Abstract

July 4, 2022, marked 40 years since the death of Terrence Higgins, the first person known to have died of AIDS-related causes in the UK. This year is also the 40th anniversary of the trust that was set up by Higgins's partner and friends in his name, now the UK's largest and longest-running AIDS charity. A Positive Life, an eight-part radio series from BBC Wales and BBC Sounds released this summer, charts the history of the AIDS epidemic in the UK, beginning not with Higgins's death, but his life before HIV.
