Abstract

This paper summarizes the discussions of a working group that was charged with the task of examining inherent uncertainty in air quality modeling. The major topics of the paper are: 1. 1. Definition of inherent uncertainty in air quality models; 2. 2. Determination of inherent uncertainty; 3. 3. Role of inherent uncertainty in model evaluation. The concepts introduced here are illustrated through a numerical simulation with Gifford's fluctuating plume model.
