Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a disease of pulmonary arteries characterized by proliferation and remodeling, resulting in an increase in vascular resistance and heart failure. The vasoregulatory and protective role of nitric oxide in PAH has been characterized. The purpose of these studies was to test the hypothesis that inhaled nitrite protects against/reverses PAH.
