Abstract
Inhalation treatments for acute airway obstruction are an important element of care for patients with asthma and other respiratory conditions. Coding for these services appears straightforward based on Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) instruction. However, changes to the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) Policy Manual for Medicaid Services for 2017 remind us that these services must be reported based on payer guidelines when these differ from CPT.
