Abstract

In a rapidly evolving scientific and technological knowledge, concern is growing universities to ensure the relevance of training their students regarding the demands of the world of work and to understand the factors affecting the transition between egress and the employment of its graduates. In this context, the Education Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of the Republic, developed since 2006 a System of Labor Tracking Graduates to know the characteristics and training demands arising in the process of insertion and labor maintenance of graduates Career of Agricultural Engineering. The study provides for a census to exit consultation and monitoring of a sample group of each cohort graduation, who are consulted through surveys about their employment status to senior year, three years and then every five years. The results of the consultation exit carried out between 2011 and 2014 and the overall results of monitoring of sample groups between 2002 and 2015. The data show that employment in professional roles that are important concern is presented, from stages prior to discharge, and even those who have spent more than a decade of graduates with significant permanence in the workplace, which might be explained by the performance of the professionals about their work duties, also associated with the favorable economic context of national agroindustry during the period considered.
