Abstract

ABSTRACT Counselor educators routinely utilize creative interventions and experiences to enhance student development within the classroom. Adventure-based counseling (ABC) is one such intervention that has been included in a variety of settings. Kolb’s model of experiential learning is combined with Schoel et al.’s adventure wave model to demonstrate the practical application when integrating ABC practices in counselor education classrooms. Practical strategies for preparing, implementing, and crafting ABC activities in coursework are outlined in this article. A case study is presented along with ethical and cultural considerations.
