Abstract

Percutaneous therapy of distal abdominal aortic occlusive disease is an extension of the strategy for treating iliac artery occlusive lesions. The use of stents for these lesions offers the advantage of increased primary success and the potential for improved long‐term patency. We present an illustrative case of primary stent therapy for a distal aorta occlusive lesion and describe the assessment of these patients and the technique of infrarenal aortic stent placement. Percutaneous stent therapy of these lesions offers an attractive alternative to surgical therapy in these patients.
