DONALD B. HYLAND, was the manager of the biomedical laboratory at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. He is currently the director at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. VERDA JEAN KIRKLAND, B.N., was the quality assurance coordinator at North Kansas City Hospital at the time this article was written. She now is a staff nurse in the recovery room at North Kansas City Hospital.
