Abstract

Solid-state structures of thin blend films of perylene and 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) formed on the Au surface have been studied by a combination of infrared reflection–absorption spectroscopy and the RATIO method of Debe. In the blend films, PTCDA molecules take the face-on orientation in the whole range of PTCDA contents from 7.5 to 88mol%. On the other hand, the molecular orientation of perylene molecules changes from edge-on toward random as the PTCDA content increases.
