Abstract

The infrared spectra of Langmuir films of stearic acid (1–7 molecular layers) adsorbed on Ag and Ni metals were measured by specular reflection. The spectra of the films were interpreted as follows: the films have the well-oriented structure and the formation of the ionized species, -CO − 2, has taken place. The spectra of a surfactant (HTAB) and some inorganic ions adsorbed on Ag and Ni metals were also studied.
