Abstract

The infrared spectra of crystalline and amorphous polypropylene samples have been observed in the region from 650 to 6000 cm −1. Polarization measurements also have been made. The spectrum of the crystalline sample is analyzed from the C 3 factor group of the one-dimensional space group of a helical chain. Possible interpretations for the fundamental bands as well as for the overtone and combination bands are suggested and discussed.
