Abstract

The infrared spectra of aniline complexes with halides of divalent platinum, palladium, copper, nickel, zinc, cadmium, cobalt and manganese are reported in the 4000-280 cm −1 region. With the exception of cadmium chloride, these complexes are of the type dihalobis(aniline) metal (II). Deuteration of the amino group aided in the assignment of the fundamental NH 2 modes. The strongest absorptions are those associated with the NH 2 wagging vibrations. A number of metal-to-chlorine stretching vibration frequencies, below 335 cm −1, have been assigned.
