Abstract

Well resolved spectra of COhydrogen complexes have been observed in the region of the CO fundamental band using a low-temperature (≈ 50 K) long-path (84 m) absorption cell and a Fourier transform spectrometer. The COH 2 and COD 2 transitions appeared as weak fine structure between the strong lines of the CO monomer. Spectra obtained with the JO hydrogens (para-H 2 or ortho-D 2) resembled perpendicular bands of a T-shaped triatomic, and on this basis many lines could be assigned. Further assignments and analysis require feedback from detailed calculations using a realistic potential energy surface.
