Infrared spectra of certain acetylenic compounds

Abstract

1. A simple qualitative method based on a mechanical model of the acetylene group was used to analyze the IR spectra of compounds containing from one to six triple bonds in the molecule. 2. The dependence of the arrangement of the bands in the spectra and their relative intensities on the structure of the compounds was obtained. 3. The data presented on the IR spectra of 30 compounds are in satisfactory agreement with the results of the proposed method of analysis.
