Abstract
Infrared spectra have been obtained in argon matrices at 20K from the species 12C 16OF 2, 13C 16OF 2, 12C 18OF 2 and 13C 18OF 2. Fundamental, overtone and combination bands for the normal species have also been studied in the gas phase. Previous uncertainty in the assignment of ν 3 and ν 5 is removed. A complete set of anharmonicity constants x ij is obtained and the general harmonic force field determined from frequencies, frequency shifts and new values of Coriolis coefficient ξ 3,5 and of centrifugal distortion coefficients. The force field reproduces satisfactorily the observed inertia defects for all four species. The new normal coordinates are used for the reinterpretation of the previously known infrared intensities of the fundamental bands.
