Abstract
The i.r. spectra of 2-chloro, 2-bromo, 2-iodobutane in the crystalline and glassy states have been obtained. With the help of frequency calculations, an assignment of bands to the possible conformational isomers S HH, S HH', S CH has been made. In the crystal phase the zig-zag planar chain conformation S HH', is present.
