Abstract
In the following, in a first part we report and discuss experimental results concerning pristine cis-trans polyacetylene, in a second part we present the different models which have been developed to explain the above preceding results. We have tried to present an almost complete compilation of the principal results; certainly completeness cannot be claimed in view of the large number of appeared papers. (orig.).
