Abstract

Vibrational spectroscopy has been used to investigate three systems of weakly-solvated anions in which their countercations are complexed by the crown ether, 18-crown-6. Questions that are addressed include the extent of ion-pairing occurring, and the possible orientation of the anion with respect to the cation-crown ether complex.
