Abstract

The infrared absorption spectrum of gaseous CF2:CHBr has been obtained with a Perkin-Elmer double-pass spectrometer equipped with LiF, NaCl, and CsBr prisms. The Raman spectra of the compound in the gaseous and liquid states have been photographed with a 3-prism glass spectrograph of linear dispersion 15 A/mm at 4358 A. The 12 fundamental vibrational wave numbers have been assigned, as follows: Species a′ : 3135, 1732, 1317, 1172, 957, 768, 568, 366, and 164 cm-1; species a″ : 741, 583, and 227 cm-1. Except for the lowest a′ fundamental, all are for the gaseous state. The observed spectra have been interpreted in detail. Thermodynamic properties for the ideal-gaseous state at 1 atmos have been calculated for 6 temperatures.
