Abstract

The infrared absorption spectrum of gaseous CF2:CClBr has been obtained with a Perkin-Elmer Model 112 double-pass spectrometer equipped with LiF, CsBr, and NaCl prisms and a 1-m absorption cell. The Raman spectrum of the compound in the liquid state has been photographed with a 3-prism glass spectrograph of reciprocal linear dispersion 15 A/mm at 4358 A. The 12 vibrational fundamentals have been assigned as follows: species a′: 1731, 1314, 1022, 945, 613, 455, 358, 219, and 166 cm—1; species a″: 566, 324, and ca 155 cm—1. The two lowest a″ fundamentals are rather uncertain. The observed spectra have been interpreted in detail. Thermodynamic properties for the ideal gaseous state at 1 atmos have been calculated for 6 temperatures.
