Abstract

Biomedical Informatics is a recently incorporated discipline in the Curriculum of the Medical Surgeon Career 2010 (UNAM, 2009) that aims to train physicians who use clinical reasoning, handle, analyze, and apply information, critical thinking, information and communication technologies to solve health problems with professionalism and an ethical and humanistic attitude1. To achieve this, the Biomedical Informatics department consists of three major coordinations that, by combining efforts, have continuously innovated the teaching of the subject, provided digital solutions to the community of the Facultad de Medicina, and promoted the development of innovative projects to improve medical care.
