Abstract

Using the Pegg-Barnett formalism, we discuss the entropic uncertainty relation associated with number and phase measurements in optical states. Phase information gained in number states by weak squeezing is found to be free from the phase-window ambiguity. We also discuss the appearance of a canonically conjugate nature between number (amplitude) and phase in the classical regime.
