Abstract

The modern system of law enforcement agencies, like many other state institutions, operates in an open and closed information space and dynamic information threats and opportunities, so it is important to maximize the use of tools and opportunities to work with information and to develop skills of analysing it. The aim of the article is to analyze the information component, and to search the directions for its development to ensure the effectiveness of law enforcement. In the article it is substantiated the need and features of integrated approach to information support of law enforcement activity from the point of combining different channels of receiving the information. There are characterized possibilities and directions of using the information retrieval system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was created to unite information resources operating in the bodies and departments of Ukraine’s internal affairs bodies, into a single information and analytical complex using modern information technologies, computer and telecommunication equipment to support the operational activities of the bodies and department of internal affairs. The special features of working with open databases are outlined, in particular with the Unified state web portal of open data, which is formed on the basis of a combination of dataset search within different groups. It was identified the separate integrated information retrieval and analytical systems that allow obtaining information from many databases at one time. Their capabilities and benefits of use in the investigation process are outlined. The specifics of legal regulation, as well as technical and organizational support of polygraph studies are described. This aspect is important from the standpoint of human resourcing and implementation of professional functions. In the first case we are talking about the fact that one of the conditions of employment on the relevant positions of law enforcement agencies is a polygraph examination, in the second - polygraph examinations are an important additional information channel during the investigation activity. The importance of non-verbal information channels and aspects of its use in law enforcement activity are outlined.
