Abstract

The globalization of business is a reality of our time. Hence, American companies that want to survive in the global marketplace must devise strategies and programs to obtain and maintain competitive advantage. Engineering managers must create an organizational form and culture suited to the global business environment and effectively use information technology to enhance the total productive process. Industry can be competitive in the global marketplace; however, we will need a new breed of engineering management professional to meet the challenges of the 1990s.
