Abstract
Local government in Sweden is characterized by extensive power of initiative and action. The public sector accounts for roughly 35% of GDP. Efficiency of public administration depends greatly on Information Technology. This paper describes the sector of local governments, their organization, use and effects of Information Technology (I.T.).
