Abstract

To ascertain the pattern and determinants of information-seeking behaviors of doctors at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, Osun State, southwestern Nigeria, a descriptive, multimethod, cross-sectional survey, involving the use of self-administered questionnaires, interviews, and on the spot observation during consultation were employed. One hundred twelve doctors completed the study—a 70% response rate. Results indicated preferred sources of information and indicated that presently information needs are not being met by the university library services. Most respondents suggested computerization of library services, interlibrary connection, current awareness services, and improvement in the interpersonal relationships of library staff as means to improve library service.
