Abstract
Agriculture is the mainstay of Indian economy. There are two faces of the agricultural knowledge management. At one end, the basic and scientific research generated huge database of agricultural knowledge, but it did not reach most of the farmers due to one or other reasons. On the other side, the farmers are also having their own knowledge database generated over the period of time, adopted biologically and socially. Hence, agriculture sector is suffering from low productivity. In this context, authors urge to have the integration of these two knowledge domains for its effective utilization and application. With the advent of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) based tools, the creation, storage and dissemination of this knowledge among various stakeholders is possible in a very short span. The present article explores the role of ICTs in agricultural knowledge management, its prospects and challenges for adoption of ICTs in Indian agriculture.
