Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare methods of polishing of Ketac-Fil plus and Vitro-Fil. Class V cavities on extracted bicuspids were restored with Ketac-fil and Vitro-Fil. Replicas in Epoxy resin of the restored teeth were analysed on an MEV and profilometer. The Sof-Lex discs produced a smoother surface without irregularities. The Enhance system associated to the Kota II paste presented a surface with a vast amount of deep irregularities with some material detaching from the surface. The study can conclude that the polishing of the ionomeric restorations modifies the surface of the restoration material.
