Abstract

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends empiric treatment of influenza with antiviral therapies for high-risk persons, including adults over the age of 65 years, and persons with chronic cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, diabetes, and morbid obesity. There are few data available that describe clinical adherence to ACIP recommendations. This study sought to investigate adherence to ACIP treatment guidelines during the 2010−2011 influenza season, and to determine what factors may influence health care−seeking behaviors and receipt of antiviral treatment.
