Abstract
Objective To analyze the factors of influencing the time of using mechanical ventilation in patients with acute exacerbations of chonic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD) in respiratory intensive care unit. Methods A total of 59 AECOPD patients hospitalized in the first affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou university from September 2012 to August 2013 were enrolled in this study.Fifty-nine patients were divided into two groups:twenty-eight subjects with short-time mechanical ventilation (≤7days).Thirty-one with long-time mechanical ventilation(≥14 days).Blood samples were collected from 59 AECOPD patients in the third day after mechanical ventilation. The levels of procalcitonin(PCT),albumin(ALB),N-type natriuretic peptide(BNP),red blood cell (RBC),hemoglobin (HGB) were compared between the two groups. Results The levels of PCT,BNP,ALB,RBC and HGB of peripheral blood on the third day after mechanical ventilation had significant differences (P < 0.01).Conclusions Pulmonary infection, cardiac insufficiency, hypoproteinemia and anemia will prolong the time of mechanical ventilation in AECOPD patients significantly, and the early intervention of these factors will shorten the time of mechanical ventilation. Key words: Acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Invasive mechanical vetilation; Mechanical vetilation time
