Abstract

The glasses of 50P2O5–30Sb2O3–10CaO–5Al2O3–5TeO2 + xLa2O3 were prepared by conventional melting method. The effects of La2O3 on the structure, thermal behavior and water durability of glass were studied. Infrared and Raman spectra show that the incorporation of a small amount of La2O3 does not cause a fundamental change in the structure of the phosphate glass network, but can significantly improve the chemical stability with the increase of La2O3 content. In addition, with the addition of La2O3, a small amount of metaphosphate in the glass was depolymerized and some Q2 units were converted into Q1 units. This series of glass has application prospects in low-temperature sealing.
