Abstract

Nanotechnology in concrete is the utmost lively research area that has beneficial presentations and progressively recognized itself over the last three decades. Nanoparticles are emerged to be potential resources in the civil engineering arena. Past researchers have engaged in establishing the influence of various nanoparticles into cementitious materials directing to transform some characteristics of the system. This paper critically reviews earlier research carried out on the influence of using nano silica, nano colloidal silica, nano alumina, nano-Fe2O3, nano-Fe3O4, nano MgO, nano CaCO3, and nano clay into the cementitious materials in developing fast track repair concrete. Characteristics of nano modified concrete-like workability, setting time, mechanical strength, shrinkage, pore structure and porosity, permeability was reviewed to deliver a wide-ranging perception of nano modified concrete in the construction and fast track repair.
