Abstract

The work presented in this article is focused on the effect of vanadium content on the microstructure of the A319 alloy, both in as-cast and heat treated conditions. It has been found that, vanadium has significant influence on refinement of constituent phases in the above alloy. In particular, heat treated alloys exhibit much better distribution and modification of eutectic silicon than in as-cast alloys for a given addition level of vanadium.
