Abstract

The nanobranch (Nb) and dense-forest (DF) structured tin dioxide thin films were prepared by hot wall nebulizer spray pyrolysis technique for different precursor concentrations. The structural, optical and morphological properties were studied by X-Ray diffraction, UV–visible spectrophotometer, Photoluminescence spectrophotometer and Field emission scanning electron microscopy. The growth mechanism of Nb and DF structure formation were discussed. The performance of UV Photodetector is studied under UV light of 365 nm wavelength and low bias voltage of 0.4 mV. The parameters of PDs such as responsivity, external quantum efficiency, linear dynamic response, detectivity and photosensitivity were calculated. The SnO2 Nbs and DF structure PDs show significant performance at low light intensity (0.2 mW/cm2) and low bias voltage (0.4 mV). Influence of twin boundary on the slow decay of photocurrent is studied with exponential fitting. The relationship between depletion layer, dark current and photosensitivity is studied with surface adsorbing oxygen ions (O2−).
