Abstract

1. Rolling with rollers of case-hardened quenched samples with notches increases the fatigue resistance of 12KhN3MA steel by 42% and that of 20KhN3A steel by 55%. Treatment at subzero temperature does not increase the fatigue resistance. 2. Tensile stress tests of samples with notches strengthened with rollers showed that the ultimate strength increases by 15%. 3. Rolling with rollers of case-hardened quenched samples with a surface layer having a preeutectoid carbon concentration increases the wear resistance by 30% on the average. 4. Rolling at pressures within a qide range improves the finish of the surface from ▽7 to ▽8.
