Abstract

Objective To explore the impact of the total participation in quality management on the nursing quality of endocrine department. Methods Since January 2012, all the nurses participated in the nursing quality management mode. The nurses were divided into 6 groups and took turns to participate in nursing quality management and evaluated the nursing quality, nursing defects repetition rate and patients′ satisfaction before (January 2010 to December 2011) and after (January 2012 to December 2013) the intervention of quality control. Results After implementation of the participation in nursing quality management, the scores of patients settlement, diet nursing, symptom observation, nursing effect, health education, nursing behavior, nursing record, effect evaluation and quality standard were (28.31±0.82), (9.56±0.33), (9.82±0.11), (28.63±0.82), (9.86±0.12), (28.25±1.02), (9.91±0.08), (9.58±0.36) and (9.77±0.22), which were significantly higher than those before the implementation (t=-6.254, -5.236, -3.145, -6.124, -5.412, -2.596, -4.251, -4.315, -4.211, respectively; P<0.05). The satisfaction increased from 90.0% to 100.0% after the implementation, which had significant difference (χ2=6.236, P<0.05). The incidences of improper patients settlement, improper diet nursing, record incomplete, symptom observation not in time, medical dispute, misuse of medication, incomplete of health education decreased significantly (χ2=3.569, 4.425, 3.885, 6.659, 4.236, 3.805, 8.559, respectively; P<0.05). Conclusions Through the total participation in nursing quality control management, we fully mobilize all the nurses′ working enthusiasm, improve the quality of the nurse management consciousness, and improve the management ability of the nurses and nursing quality, so as the patients′ satisfaction of nurses.
