Abstract

ABSTRACT Top gas recycling technology is an effective means to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emission in the ironmaking field. In this work, a static mathematical model of COREX process combined with top gas recycling technology is developed based on material and energy balance. The influence of three types of top gas recycling, such as the recycle gas without CO2 removal (RG-1), the recycle gas after CO2 removal (RG-2) and the heated recycle gas after CO2 removal (RG-3), on the operation parameters and CO2 emissionsis investigated. Results show that the theoretical combustion temperature can be significantly reduced by injecting the three kinds of recycle gas at tuyere. The fuel rate and integrated fuel rate can be decreased by injecting the three kinds of recycle gas. The injection of the RG-3 can most effectively reduce the CO2 emission of COREX process, followed by the RG-2 and RG-1.
