Abstract

SummaryThe reduction in food intake caused by the addition of a half of one percent of thiourea to the diet for 20 days did not influence organ weight/body weight ratios in spite of a body weight loss. In addition to thyroid hypertrophy, a decrease in seminal vesicle weight was evident after feeding thiourea, although the gonadotropic hormone content of the pituitary of thioureafed and pair-fed rats did not differ. Pituitary, testis, adrenal, kidney and liver weights were not significantly changed.
